We were family, sharing one smile together
That warms our united hearts.
In corners of our minds were hidden desires
With all hands working, we wove, little by little
From every story, sound and tear
Into a perfect dream
Happiness was not ours
But we forged tiny laughter from thoughts of our tomorrow
The unseen guest blessed our debt acquired meals
The silent listener to the conversations of our hearts
Became our shield, our hope
On one faithful Christmas, she left without goodbyes
Like a paper boat at sea, like a feather to the wind
Our store of strength, hand of correction and comfort
He stood the gap, a firm and compelling voice
Together we grew, silent eyes and wet tongues
Savouring and wishing bliss
This home became our strong tower
The incomplete portrait from the pictures in our eyes
We are family, though a great void exists
Again we will share one true smile
Watching the moon as it settles upon our roof
Loving beyond the heart, webbed together by the glue of life
We are family
Together
Sharing one smile
