I walked through the narrow path Trying to leave my past behind me My steps tripped, almost to the point of falling As the darkness of the night embraced me A storm tore through the night With loud thundering and lightning And heavy drops of rain falling: My body was soaked it all in As I began to walk away from my past I heard the sound of the wind Wild like midnight noise in a rainforest And walked faster as the rain continued to beat my body Like frenzied palms on a drum I reached a swelling river And couldn't cross to the other side Then a scary voice reached me from afar Gripping me with fear Threatening to consume me Closer and closer it came I wondered what it was With my heart right inside my mouth Unsure of where to turn, where to go Just then I escaped the clutches of my dream And awoke to find the sun's rays Piercing through my window I arose from my bed, my dream, my fears Towards an unknown destination
