Those days are gone
When I was your angel
Proudly presented to your friends
Those days are gone
When with gentle kiss you woke me
In your eyes I saw how inestimable I was
Those days are gone
When my feelings and choices you respected
When in issues my views you requested
Those days are gone
When as a wife you craved for me
Not just as a sex object
Those days are gone
When you were known as a loving father
When your return saturated us with joy.
Those days are gone
When by the mirror you admired my beauty
When my face wasn’t madeup with your bruises
Those days are gone
When you acknowledged my weaknesses
And encouraged me when I was in a mess
Those days are gone
When folks tagged us “one big family”
When love, fidelity and mutual respect lived
Those days are gone
When we all sat together to watch our favorite soap
When as a team we worked to build our home
Those days are gone
When our kids knew love and care from daddy’s hands
When daddy told them stories before sleep shut their eyes
Those days are gone
When I felt like a wife
When everyday you gave me cause to be happy in life
Those days are gone
How I wonder where they’ve gone!
