THINGS FALL APART (For Chinua Achebe)

Read Time:39 Second

When poetry flows like the rivers of rukwa
Who would not respect the presence of CHINUA

Written in the 1960’s late
History still repeats on till date
For what purpose was it written?

To struggle and get praise
Is like owning a yard of maize

To rule and defeat
Is to be like Alexander The Great

To be strong and brave
Is the lion’s roar

To be weak and nervous
Is a mockry of bravery

Did Okonkwo do wrong?

To defend the brave
Is like our body in need of a heart

To embrace the stranger
Is a call to danger

Past and present is an irony

Corruption is still here, blind
Fed through the lion’s mind
His throne is cunny

Chinua says:
We need much ado
