The loveliness of a new sun
Its glory and its dominion
Conquering chariots of darkness
Is an emblem of His prowess
‘Tis sensuous to my rousing eyes
The wave of rays plying Earth’s skies;
Yay! Soothing to my ears are lines
Those birds chirp at the art that shines
And as ’tis help from pole to pole
That this bright orb doth play its role
Draped in livery of gold and red
Was devoted to leave its bed
I will, likewise, end my lazing
To work works bid me by the King
While forenoon births impatient hours,
My members won’t in here cower.
*From John 9:4: “We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one
who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.”
