SORDID REMUNERATIONS by Jesse Asonze

Read Time:1 Minute, 14 Second

A debate I am yet to join
And never might

And how they affect his choices
Too bad that he is too afraid to be sorry for his actions
And still live without regret
A death that occurs many times over
The fate ascribed to his cowardice

The emptiness of our gatherings
Unfounded in their solemnities
Man’s ability to carve in noise
Things he should have communicated in silence
Hence, real meaning is lost

Struggles beguiled by self interests
True patriotism no more alive
The prophecies come to fulfillment
Yet man persists in his stubbornness
So drunk from worldliness
That he is sees not the subtle signals

Dogs may either bark or bite
All seek the freedom of a billowing kite
Our burdens should be light
Let us open our eyes and see bright

I am but a man
Worthy of nothing
But my holy redemption
Trials test my perseverance
But I journey on
My mistakes are many
My joys remain to be counted
I toil to know myself
I battle to understand things pertaining to my spirit

Mayhap my efforts they will ridicule
Mayhap they may laugh
And betray, backbite and impede
But I have made up my mind
When I achieve this purpose, yourself I will remind
