SEVENTY TIMES SEVENTY

When justice is forced to sit
In open stalls of the markets,
Forced to be haggled upon…

Fill in the blanks and you’ll see us
In a free for all, a bedlam
Where the weak and the young,
The old, poor and helpless,
Become footstools
For the strong and the rich!

Oh, this canon so etched,
Beautifully on both slates reads:
“Turn the other when slapped here,
Regardless of the pain, shame
Or embarrassment”
Is largely of the same purpose.

Forgiveness has its bar pegged at
At seventy times seventy times per day;
These reprisals and retributions are uncalled for!
