I fear to put pen to paper
I fear that I’ll draw blood
I fear to let this ink run
I fear it will be poison
But I must write
For only words veil my thoughts
My eyes burn like hot lava
But when shall it burst forth and flow
When shall I feel the cramps of labor
That I may birth forth this rage?
Before dusk comes
Can I paint a smile on my face?
Can I feel a pang in my heart?
A beat of excitement
I am aged with wrath
Anger has eaten my hair bald
Worry has tattooed my skin with wrinkles
I fear to live through this night
I fear to shut my eyes
I fear to look into my soul
I fear to see what I have become
