NOT MY CONCERN: Aremu Adams Adebisi

Read Time:45 Second

Hear me, kinsmen!
Hear my lamentations!
Those who do what has not been done
Shall experience what has not been witnessed.

If an ugly vulture
Keeps pecking to death its future births;
What’s my concern?
As far as my yam did not tag along;
What’s my concern?

If today’s ant strength
Becomes tomorrow’s giant weakness;
What’s my concern?
As far as my yam I don’t have to beg;
What’s my concern?

If today’s future leaders
Were trampled on
By yesterday’s mindless elders;
What’s my concern?
As far as my yam was not pecked upon;
What’s my concern?

If he who failed yesterday
Was been enthroned with votes
By its traded tomorrows;
What’s my concern?
As far as my yam did not go with rice;
What’s my concern?

Then one bright morning,
As I went out to get my yam,
A blow hit my savouring mouth;
The cost of yam has been inflated.
