And so my bags were packed,
I just wanted to escape,
To the most beautiful place on earth,
The town with a breath-taking landscape,
I sat for what seemed a millennium,
The journey was long and tiring,
And then it rained on my first night,
Which made it all the more uninspiring,
But with time things changed,
I adapted to the rural lifestyle,
Even though my igbo was rubbish,
All the wahala was worthwhile,
Being without my BB,
Not seeing my Lagos sisi Cecilia,
Without noise from “danfos” and “okadas”
It was a feeling that felt unfamiliar,
The commodities were cheap,
The people were friendly,
Nobody cared if you rode a bicycle,
Or cruised in a bentley,
Then came my Cinderella moment,
Time was up and my fairy tale was over,
It was back to my unwanted comfort,
Suddenly I was all sad and sober,
I’m back to living the Lagos life,
The hustle and bustle has removed,
Its like I buried all my sorrows,
Only to come back and find them exhumed,
My place of unrivaled peace,
Where I experience no lack,
To my beloved town Nnewi,
Surely I can’t wait to go back
