Awake but tense I lay
In my bed where it all awaits
Not at the door, nor a blot to bade
But in my head, and so I wake

Pitch dark, no cocks to crow
Singular laid, no snores to share
No shadows or echoes to interjects
Yet wide awake with starry eyes

To sleep, I search my head
For ghost to lay to rest
But soul too wandering to care
To act and learn the lines

In my sleep I am but dreaming
A rosy one, not a nightmare
But now I’m daydreaming
Being an Emir, not a silly mare
