MAN ON A LEDGE by Prince Kuti Adetoye Olayinka

Read Time:43 Second

They say death is sweet
Sweeter than honey,precious than money
Tasting like ice cream eaten with biscuit.

They say living is a crime
For those who have nothing
Owning only emptiness and never a dime!

They say life is beautiful
For only those who have money
And the providence of poverty is for only a fool!

But how can I die
When not one breath of life
Has escaped the nostrils where my dreams lie?

But how can I live
When dying is life’s sole ambition
To escape the curse of Eve?

Every breath is a taste of Lemon death
But how can one who was never born ever die?
When no maiden has for me borne painless pang of birth?

Should I live that I may die?
Boarding life’s ship to death’s harbour
Will any man for me – the wind maybe – ever grieve?
