M.K.O ABIOLA by Victor Igiri

Read Time:53 Second

(…a tribute in respect of the honour conferred on him by President Muhammadu Buhari)

Kashimawo,
“Let us wait and see” so
They said
but Heroes don’t die,
No.
They are the colours of the rainbow
and possess the heart of the sun.
They are eagles
soaring on time’s wings, alphabeting on
history’s sheets
and upon our meadow they green
as ‘fresh foliages’.

Yes, their sun graces mankind portraiting
the beauty of heaven
and though stung by the ‘brood of Vipers’
they were no betrayers, but stood brave amidst
death’s invitations as mouthpiece’s of Justice
And at finis
though tragedy became ours to chew

June 12 is yours,
M.K.O Abiola, chief of our Democracy exponents
and through its spirits
The world, like 1993
shall behold your bright and dark suns
and yet see truths unfading skin
shinning through every dark years.

True, no one can cage God’s Nature
and very certain we know that after the
sun, moon, and stars comes
the Truth
that, which can never be ostracized.

Shine on,
legend of History.
