I know of a slave
Who dances and sings freedom
Out the cage of slavery
But is still sucking the breast
Of her colonial mother
I know of a nation
Who crawls on the road to Canaan land
And celebrates her birthday
In the jungle of tears
Where Boko, Aluu and ASUU reigns
I know of an aged woman
Who mothers many children
Under a roofless hut
And serve them plates
When there’s no food
I know of a farmer
Whose fertile land
Has become a barren earth
Littered with the Chinese weeds
Which we call technologies!
I know of a party
Who mouths the streets with propagandas
Promising airports beneath the earth
Railway tracks in the clouds
One house, a bowl of millions!
I know of an incompetent driver
Who steers the national-lorry
With the wheel of corruption
And fuels it with the sweats
Of his famished passengers
I know of a boy
Who lies on the ancestral mat
Of his fathers’ past glories
And parades the town, useless
When his future is set to birth shame
