Against dark forms and vices
To unveil the day
For work or for play
To transform the time
‘to its fruitful prime
I know why the sun rises
Through peace and in crises
To expose tainted blushes
In ornamental plushes
For a better picture
Of now and the future
I know why the sun rises
In moments of controversies
To point to new directions
With glowing expectations
To guide both mind and sight
Away from impending plight
I know why the sun rises
In defiance to man’s atrocities
As the Lord wills
(demanding no bills
In exchange for duty)
Revealing divine beauty
Oh, yes, I know why the sun rises
