No longer shall I
Speak with a silent voice
Or watch with closed eyes
While the evil ones rejoice
No longer shall I smile
In my sweet, idle frustration.
While, hopefully, I whine
About unfulfilled expectations
No longer shall I act
With selfish inaction
Or, idly aside, stand
With pretended devotion
No longer shall my hands
With transient gold be soiled
I will take the chance
To wash them clean by honest toil
No longer shall I heap the blame
On men and women in power
While I have boldly failed
To better my little corner
Yes, my choice is already made
To work and never get tired
To step out of this my cage
And create the change that I desire.
