Faced with mortality,
Thoughts of the afterlife creep in.
Burdened by unconfessed sin
And the shame of buried quilt,
My unrepented heart bleeds.
Mouth void coherent words,
In tears and brokenness of heart,
Eyelid closed and head bowed,
A voice in my head spoke
“Confess and free yourself”
“Oh Lord…” I cried “Oh Lord my savior”
Pardon my ignorant ill-behavior;
Great evils I’ve done, I’ve lived unjustly
And the Innocent ones I have hurt.
Lord, please show my soul mercy.”
I feel my sins like a boulder,
Heavy on my hurting shoulder,
But it is now rolled away
And I am ready to embrace
Death, when he comes for me.
