It still grieves my heart
my soul has never been at peace
my people were killed at Abagana
a war that kept us apart till date
Rancor and bitterness rule the land
but for how long?
we’ll never forget the wickedness
a peace accord was never honored
now they deny us our right
and our people they silently kill
in the name of religion they maim and rape
desecrating the land as they paint with blood
.
when shall we embrace each other to live as one?
when shall we live in peace without shedding our blood?
like wilted plants, we are uprooted never
to see the brightness of the sun.
when shall we sing a united song?
we keep looking ahead for the light,
but for how long?
How long shall we continue with leaders quarreling with insight?
where shall we go from here?
nobody can give us peace if we continue to paint our land with fear
blood spills daily like the volcanic blast of mount Vesuvius
We’re divided against ourselves and it’s obvious
It still grieves my heart
and I know I’ll find this peace someday.
I’ll discover my land which lives in my heart
I’ll sing my victory song again in the land of the rising sun someday.
