Bloodstain in the sun
Evil has eaten deep into our fatherland
Taking away souls strand by strand
Killing people with an invisible hand
Tears have run dry in our eye
Watching innocent souls as the die
Bitterness flows in our throats
Our men being slaughtered like goats
Where is the Nigeria that once had peace?
Why has the fresh air suddenly ceased?
We are living the agony of war
Yet we are fighting no war
Children turning into orphans
Living a life of harm
Women turning into widows
Bomb hanging on our windows
Hearts beat in fear
Thousand missing every year
Yet the reason for this killing remains unknown
They hide their reason and hit us with stones
We don’t even know the gods to appease
But they swear never to give us peace
We dont even know our wrong deed
But they puncture our hearts to make it bleed
There is already blood stain in the sun
“I’m Tired of shining on innocent blood”
So says the sun
