I speak because I must
And not to gain your trust;
What applause shall I get
If folly leads to death?
I see a candle light
A flicker in darkness’ might;
What mounds shall babies suckle
If their bellies start to giggle?
The world remains an acreage
Where ducklings come of age;
What leaves shall heifers chew
If grasses lose their hue?
Does the sun refuse to rise
To curse the helpless sky?
I shall not cease to speak
Because I am not weak.
