The rulers’ hearts lack humanity
Forecasting the future, they tell stories
That leave us hoping for better days
But the promises fail and we are all denied
While they gather for merry making
Many try to fight, but are held down
By those who seat in the offices
Even the strong men are silenced
…
Tell me, are we liberated?
Ask me, ask yourselves.
Yes, we claimed our freedoms
From colonial stranglehold
But the fight seems unended
We’re still fighting to be free
Now, the elders are afraid
They wont dig up the hatchets
Afraid of the unjust leader
But a new generation is born
To unshackle the arms of justice
I long for that day of reckoning!
Nigeria has a has a bright future;
We all must keep fighting
Until the desired goal is reached
May God strengthen us that fight
And quicken those willing to join
…For a man’s duty is to his land
