I tried it alone, but it came out all One
And I wondered if that’s how God felt
To be alone and needing none.
He couldn’t be lonely
Being perfect and all
The real One and Only
Before Adam’s fall.
But why did He do that
And what did it mean
To make something good
Then let death in the scene?
I tried it alone
And then I found out
That without the One
Is what death is about.
The whole of Creation
Is about generation
And nation to nation
Becoming One.
No death is alone
No life is bereft
With one joined to one
There’s always more left.
With those who come after
We share the One
In that hear God’s laughter
For what He has done!
