Today, I mourn your demise;
I mourn the pains
And the little joys you brought in.
Today, I mourn you;
‘Twelve Twelve Twelve’ of this century gone!
Once you were born in 1912
the same day you died and today you are gone again.
You will be born to die again by 2112,
and be born again in centuries to come,
until my Father’s Kingdom comes.
So when your time of rebirth comes,
I pray, do not bring much pain to these sapped breasts.
For even if my years rise not above 80
the offspring of my loins will be there
to witness your comings and goings, like an Abiku.
I beseech thee!
