Olajuwon Joseph Olumide, Osieka Osinimu Alao, and Jewo Oghenetega have been shortlisted for the 2022 Albert Jungers Poetry Prize (AJPP) awarded annually to the overall best poem for the combined entries for the editions of the Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest (BPPC) in each given year.
The 2022 Albert Jungers Poetry Prize winner, who will be announced at the Words Rhymes & Rhythm Literary Festival, Feast of Words 2022, will be awarded a cash prize of ₦25,000 and a copy of Devil’s Pawn by Kukogho Iruesiri Samson.
Past winners of the AJPP include Akor Agada Nathaniel (2021), Oladimeji Adam Adedayo (2020), Emmanuel Faith (2019), Aire Joshua Omotayo (2018), Ogwiji Ehi-kowochio Blessing (2017), – Kanyinsola Olorunnisola(2016), Showunmi Olawale Michael (2015).
OLAJUWON JOSEPH OLUMIDE is an award-winning Nigerian poet, soul singer and author. He studied Mass Communication at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, and teaches English Language and Literature at the secondary school level. Olajuwon’s published books include Walking the Pathway of Excellence and Beyond Our Dreams. He has also won the Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest (BPPC) a record four times, most recently the April/May 2022 edition.
OSIEKA OSINIMU ALAO is a writer from Nigeria. His works have appeared or forthcoming in Lumiere Review, Kreative Diadem, Arts Lounge Magazine, Nanty Greens, Requiem Magazine, the BPPC Anthologies and elsewhere. Osieka is the winner of the Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest (August September 2022). He is @osiekaosinimu on Twitter & Instagram.
JEWO OGHENETEGA is a poet, creative writer, Christian spoken word artist, and Medicine and Surgery student at Lagos State University. His works have appeared or are forthcoming in WSA Magazine, Brittle Paper, PoeticAfrica, Artslounge, Itanile, Mayó, ChristApoet, Spillwords, and the BPPC Anthologies. Jewo is the winner of the CreativeNaija Blog’s IAMNIGERIA Contest (writing category), and winner of the Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest (June/July 2022).
