Words Rhymes & Rhythm invites Nigerian poets and literature enthusiasts residing anywhere in the world to submit their poems for the 2023 edition of the annual Eriata Oribhabor Poetry Prize (EOPP).
As in previous years, this year’s EOPP seeks inspired poets to illuminate critical aspects of Nigerian society, focusing on the themes of Unity, Truth, Justice, and Change. The goal is to encourage poets to harness their creative voices, shedding light on societal matters and contributing to the broader conversation on national development.
PRIZES:
First Prize: ₦50,000 cash
First Runner-up: ₦30,000 cash
Second Runner-up: ₦20,000
The top 20 entries will be published in the 2023 EOPP anthology.
GUIDELINES:
- Submit up to two (2) original poems not previously submitted for the EOPP.
- Email submissions to SUBMISSIONS@WRR.NG with the subject: ‘EOPP 2023: NAME OF ENTRANT’.
- Include full name, contact details, and a brief biography in the email.
- Do not submit poems with profanity/vulgarity as they will be disqualified.
NOTE:
- Judges’ decision final; no correspondence on decisions.
- Authors retain the poem’s copyright but permit publication in future anthologies by submitting it to the EOPP.
- No entry fee.

Nigerians resident worldwide are eligible.

The deadline for submission is Sunday, October 29, 2023.
