Words Rhymes & Rhythm Publishers is receiving entries for the June-July 2020 edition of the BRIGITTE POIRSON POETRY CONTEST (BPPC). This edition is themed ‘MOTHER TONGUE’ and welcomes poems written in English and translated into a mother tongue.
It is of prime importance to acknowledge and manifest the role of languages in the transmission of culture and the construction of identity.
Poets that desire to honour their mother tongues are invited to submit a poem written in English and with a maximum length of 12 lines. In addition, the poets will offer the poem’s translation or adaptation in the language they have inherited from their communities.
The poem and its translation must not exceed 28 lines altogether.
The theme is, therefore, open. Follow your inspiration! We expect as many languages as possible.
Remember that poetry is about inspiration. It is also an art. Use carefully edited lines and nicely original stylistic devices to express the best of your poetic heart for the sake of sharing great poetry. Be inspired!
Participants should note that Judges will consider ORIGINALITY, WORD ECONOMY, adherence to THEME, CREATIVITY in LANGUAGE and STYLE as well as the use of LITERARY DEVICES in the poems.
