Short Story Day Africa has announced the 2019 theme of the annual SHORT STORY DAY AFRICA PRIZE. The theme is ‘disruption’ and the Prize welcomes short fiction of between 3000 and 5000 words “exploring disruption, especially but not limited to climate and environ[mental] disruption.”
Submissions for the prize which has total prize money of $1,100 will open on 1 JUNE 2019 and close on 31 October 2019.
It is open to “any African citizen or African person living in the diaspora.” The 2017 edition was won by Tochukwu Emmanuel Okafor, a 2018 Rhodes Scholar finalist from Nigeria.
